Oil Pray Love Yoga
Why is yoga a part of Oil Pray Love?

Oil Pray Love is dedicated to wholeness and well being in body, mind, and spirit. Yoga is an ancient practice that addresses each of these elements.

It's well known that yoga strengthens our physical bodies. What sets Oil Pray Love Yoga apart is its spiritual and emotional aspects, which are grounded in Scripture and prayer.

"...we make
Scripture &
prayer the meditative center of the art of yoga"

The word "yoga" means yoke, or join together. And those who practice it must ask themselves: to what am I yoking my heart, soul, and mind?

There are a lot of dangerous ideologies and philosophies in the world. Noise and distractions abound. That's why at Oil Pray Love Yoga, we make Scripture and prayer the meditative center of the art of yoga.

After all, yoke is first a Biblical concept. Matthew 11:28-30 says: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Some practice yoga to merely empty their mind. But as a Southeast Regional Shepherd of Holy Yoga, a non-profit dedicated to Christ-honoring yoga practice, I take a much different approach. I don't practice yoga to empty my mind. I practice yoga to fill my mind with that which is true, honorable, pure, and lovely (Philippians 4:8). Having practiced this form of yoga for many years now, I can attest that it has brought me to a much deeper and more intimate connection with God.

I pray that you experience it too! And if you're in Knoxville, TN, perhaps we can experience it together during one of my classes at Oil Pray Love Yoga at NorthStar Church.
May my meditation be sweet to Him, I will be glad in the LORD
Psalm 104:34
